Notes

General notes:
Another copy of this edition, bound in a single volume, is catalogued separately. There is one significant textual variant between the two copies. Both have a plate entitled Crataegus; in this copy the accompanying text also uses the name Crataegus, while in the other copy an amended leaf of text has been substituted, with the generic name Sorbus.
Second volume has the original (1777) title-page. First volume lacks title-page.
A text leaf from Curtis's Flora Londinensis for Poa trivialis is loosely inserted near the entry for Lobelia.
This is described on the catalogue card as the 1780 edition, on what evidence it is not known; it does not match the description of the 1779/89 edition as specified in Blanche Henrey. It appears to be a copy of the 1770-79 edition, bound with slight rearrangement in two volumes by the Marquess of Stafford.
